Meet our Team
The Jewish General Hospital Segal Cancer Centre is home to one of the largest groups of breast oncologists in Canada with an expertise in breast cancer research and treatment. Our multidisciplinary team includes physicians, nurses, and other professionals who specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating breast cancer.

If you need further diagnostic imaging with mammography, ultrasound, or breast MRI, you will be directed to the CRID (Breast Referral and Investigation Centre), located on the 10th floor of the E-pavilion.

Our patient navigator and pivot nurses are there to organize, provide support, and answer any questions you have around surgery.

For all patients who undergo an axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) or have symptoms of breast and arm swelling (lymphedema) following their breast surgery.

If a breast biopsy is required, a breast imaging centre nurse will contact you to schedule an appointment and review your current medications. Our 'guichet d'investigation' will then organize follow up to disclose your biopsy results.

Genetics
Since September 2019, we offer genetic testing to all patients under 70 years old with a newly diagnosed invasive breast cancer through our GREAT AGATA study and Cancer Genetics program led by Dr. William Foulkes.

Multidisciplinary Oncology Team
We work as a team with other cancer specialists in medical oncology and radiation oncology and will organize referral to other specialists in your area to provide you with timely breast cancer treatment.

Surgical Consultation
When required, breast surgical consultations are scheduled 2-3 weeks following your breast biopsy to discuss results and plan the next steps for your care.

Our colleagues in psychology, social work, and geriatric oncology help our patients work through the unique challenges of a cancer diagnosis, regardless of what stage of life they are in. Your surgeon may refer you to one of these programs or providers.
